on september 23, dsic held the naming and delivery ceremony for no.88 vlcc built for cosco shipping energy transportation co. (cosco shipping energy) , which is also the first ship of this series. zhu maijin, general manager of cosco shipping energy , ren yanxin, deputy secretary of the working committee of hainan yangpu economic development zone management committee, together with yang zhizhong, deng changlian, and zhang yuhuan, leaders of dsic, attended the ceremony. ms. wu yu named the ship "yuan hua yang".
the ship is an energy-saving and environmental protection anti-sediment vlcc tailored for cosco shipping energy, and also a new generation of brand ship with strong market competitiveness. it has a range of more than 26,000 nautical miles and can sail around the world. the ship is of the first ship type of dsic to meet the requirements of harmonized common structure specification (hcsr) and nox tier iii for nox emissions. meanwhile, it provides a list of hazardous substances in accordance with eu regulations and meets the requirements of i-ship (e), the intelligent energy efficiency symbol of ccs.
the ship is about 333 meters in length, 60 meters in width and has a maximum deadweight of about 319,000 tons. the ship can normally load 2.2 million barrels of crude oil through the strait of malacca at the designed draft of 20.5 meters. its energy-saving characteristic is very remarkable. the excellent hull line matches more energy-saving g-type main engines and a new-type large-diameter high-efficiency propeller. moreover, an energy-saving device with independent intellectual property rights is installed in front of the propeller, which has obvious energy-saving effect. a new scr system is added to reduce nox emission from generator exhaust by selective catalytic reduction. the main engines are equipped with exhaust gas recirculation system (egr) for the first time, which has excellent environmental protection effect and the overall performance has reached the world advanced level.
during the trial voyage, the ship's inspection items were connected in an orderly manner, and the inspection items such as cabin strength, magnetic compass, navigation lights, unmanned engine room and main engine load were all passed at one time. it is verified by practice that the energy saving effect of the ship is better than the technical indexes required by the design, which reduces a lot of operating costs for the ship owner.
