with the naming and delivery of the first 9250teu container vessel to the french ship owner, it marks that dalian shipbuilding industry co., ltd (“dsic”) has finished its first half-year’s production tasks by delivering a total of 12 vessels. in the first half year, dsic overcame the difficulties in building civilian vessels and marine projects synchronically by laying the emphasis on basic management work and finally achieved the goal to complete half of all its tasks concerning civilian vessels and marine products.
production proceeds rapidly and products have advantages. the first quarter this year was a busy season for dsic because delivery, sailing and undocking of some vessels and processing of htb-1 main hull for drilling barge were the emphasis of this period. in the first three month, a total of 6 vessels were signed and delivered. among them, the delivery of the 10,000teu container vessel, which was built independently by dsic based on its own r&d results and design, symbolizes the great progress in domestic building capacity of ultra-large container vessels and enables china to become the country being able to build ultra-large container vessels independently based on its own r&d results and design. after entering the second quarter, dsic seized the favorable opportunities to accelerate the production of all lines and made another remarkable achievement. the 400-feet jack-up platform no. 11 and 12 were delivered to ship owners successively. the construction of ultra-large container vessels continues outperforming other shipbuilding companies across the country, and the underwater construction cycle is comparable with that of neighboring country korea. all of these enable dsic to be more competitive in the market. the 3,900teu container vessel tailored for african routes, which was built based on independent r&d results, has successfully opened up the construction of the largest container vessels for african routes.
leading technical r&d and great achievements. dsic promotes product innovation by innovating technologies and endeavors to improve its r&d capacities to design high-tech and high value-added vessels by adhering to the latest international maritime specifications and standards, with a hope to free itself from the reliance on foreign technologies. sophisticated technologies, low cost and efficiency are the goals of dsic. dsic will strengthen the r&d and application of new technologies to the fields of security, energy conservation, efficiency and environment protection, and will accelerate optimization and upgrade of mainstream hull form for improving performance and competitiveness of the vessels by adopting advanced technologies and reducing costs. with regard to the design of large container vessels, dsic is the first of the country that has successfully installed stopper for standard 20-feet containers on 10,000teu container vessel. the largest container vessel for african routes, the 3,900teu container vessel that is built for singaporean ship owner, is a new generation of environmental-friendly vessels. by integrating full-automatic loading& unloading technology, anti-piracy technology and energy-saving and environmental-friendly technologies together, the 3,900teu container vessel has won the favor of ship owners. the first twisted rudder of the 3,900teu container vessel, which is designed, manufactured and installed independently based on dsic’s own r&d results, is featured by excellent performance in speed, manipulation and other operation, so it fills in the gap on self-design of efficient rudder. the hatch cover of the 3,900teu container vessel, which is designed independently by dsic and owns proprietary intellectual property rights, has gained recognition by lloyd’s register and ship owners.
deepen improvement of management system and improve quality via innovation. dsic will optimize the design of hull form and try to reduce material consumption by learning and borrowing the advanced design and shipbuilding philosophy from shipbuilding plants home and abroad. it will stress the emphasis on innovation of construction method, refined management and popularization of the use of sophisticated production equipment such as automatic welding device in order to further raise the production efficiency. additionally, dsic will establish and perfect the modern shipbuilding model by adopting modern management skills, rearranging the organization structure, rationally allocating production factors, and promoting cooperation among different types of jobs and specialized production of intermediate products. dsic will promote the integration of it application with industrialization and adopt digital technologies by integrating design, purchase, production and human resources in order to support sustainable improvement of enterprise’ s management level. “assigning tasks to team and appraising individuals’ performance” is the goal of dsic’s personnel management. dsic intends to revolutionize its extensive management over unplanned employees and reverse such passive status by innovating the management system, optimizing management model and borrowing advanced experience.
