in september of this golden fall, seizing the favorable opportunity of gold shipbuilding season, dsic has ushered in a milestone-intensive period of steel cutting, naming, undocking and delivery, with many production milestones in blossom to present a gift for the national day. no. 66 and 67 308k dwt vlccs constructed for shandong landbridge group started steel cutting for construction on spet.1; no.60 319k dwt vlcc “kai hang” tailor-made for china merchants group was named for delivery on sept.8; the 10th 3900teu container vessel constructed for singapore-based pil was named “geng cheng” on sept. 16; no.11 and 12 3900teu container vessels were undocked afloat while the half-length blocks of no.8 8800teu container vessel and no.1 55k dwt chemical & product oil tanker afloat on sept.20.
the 319k dwt vlcc is a new generation of brand shiptype with top market competitiveness, independently developed by dsic and tailor made for china merchants group with functions of energy saving and anti-sediment. the no.60 vlcc “kai hang” is abt. 330m loa, 60m depth moulded, with max. deadweight of 319k tons, normally capable of loading 2 million barrels of crude oil across strait of malacca at design draft of 20.5m, whose energy saving features are prominent: excellent ship hull forms equipped together with more efficient g-type main engine and new type of large ―diameter high performance propeller, and combined energy efficient devices mounted before and after propeller with independent intellectual property rights, with an obvious comprehensive effect on energy saving so that speed and fuel consumption index have ranked among world advanced level, verified by famous ship model test tanks home and abroad.
the 55k dwt chemical & product oil tanker is a new shiptype developed, designed and constructed for singapore-based imc group, where the tanker is max. 183m loa, 178.8m lbp, 35m breadth moulded, 18.5m depth moulded, 13m scantling draft and 10.5m design draft, driven by single engine and single propeller, straight bow and transom stern, and semi-spade rudder. in construction of the first vessel, dsic completed the lifting of large equipment installation including engine room piping unit, control console and main switchboard so as to shorten the assembly period of engine room blocks during general erection. it only took 12 days to finish shaping the half-length block of stern hull efficiently, which has laid a good foundation for smooth accomplishment of half-length block floating milestone.
