on the morning of mar. 14, dsic offshore delivered the global most advanced a5000 deepsea semi-submersible drilling platform to cnooc, whose smooth delivery shall further optimize and perfect the high-end deepsea drilling equipment family.
the a5000 deepsea semi-submersible drilling rig is 104.5m in length molded, 70.5m in breadth molded, 105.8 m in total height, suitable for operation in the global 1500m deep sea areas,9144m in max drilling depth, loadable for max 16-scale typhoon, and 1m in positioning capability. the rig is classed in dnv ccs, in compliance with new rules and regulations and international conventions effective and to be effective, with class notation of clean appended, reserved for ability in upgrading to tier iii emission standard so as to heighten safety and environment friendliness of the rig; the rig also adopts the world advanced mooring system and dp-3 dynamic positioning system to innovate the combined operation pattern between mooring and dynamic positioning, which has boosted the economy of rig operation. the rig is equipped with strong power station, whose main generator power can meet the power utilization of a town with about 150,000 population, and its advanced closed-loop power grid can share the load, saving 11% electric power in comparison with the existing deepsea semi-submersible drilling rig. the design with optimal cost-effective rating enables the rig to lower operation cost dramatically with a strong competitive advantage.
during the construction, dsic has been specialized in developing an advanced project completion management system for planning the project management as a whole, adopting a measurable and data control method combining weight ratio with physical quantity so as to realize the scientific control on the whole construction process effectively, with zero accident and up to 99% one-time pass rate of crack detection. it only took 1 week for the dp-3 closed-loop power control to finish all complicated tests in the sea trial, among which, the most crucial whole-ship short-circuit test succeeded one time, setting a record among the world semi-submersible drilling rigs. this marks that dsic has leapt to the forefront in the offshore engineering field of high and new tech intensive deepsea semi-submersible drilling units.
