the vessel fpso-6 of “offshore oil 118” built by dalian shipbuilding industry co., ltd. (dsic) for china national offshore oil corp. (cnooc) was delivered successfully upon signature on aug. 22nd, marking another milestone dsic has achieved in the field of offshore equipment manufacturing. the project contract period was only 21 months. dsic took only 15 months to have the vessel building work be completed. such a short construction period has broken the records for all previous fpso projects and has reached the best level for fpso-series vessel building. mr. yin xuelin, vice-general manager of dsic attended the delivery ceremony.
the vessel fpso-6 was the fifth floating production storage and offloading (fpso) vessel dsic has built for cnooc with the last one being built 7 years ago. it was the first fpso that adopted the double-bottom double-side structure in the south china sea and it was also the first fpso of china that complied with pspc, had a structural fatigue life as long as 30 years, was able to work for 15 years without the need to be released from spm and put into dock for maintenance and could work well against the most gigantic typhoon of the south china sea area.
